C1 is often a register problem
You already have the tenses. What fails in a C1 text is tone: Ich denke, dass five times, Sachen for every noun, a spoken halt in a report, or the opposite — bureaucratic German in a casual email to a classmate.
Precision starts with verbs. beantragen, prüfen, ablehnen, verschieben, nachweisen do more than machen plus a vague noun. If you cannot name the verb, the sentence is not ready.
Nominal style — a tool, not a personality
German official language likes nouns: nach Prüfung der Unterlagen, im Falle einer Verspätung. That density is useful in reports. In speech it can sound like you swallowed a form. Switch: spoken C1 still uses verbs and ich.
Hedging without fog
Es scheint, dass …, Das deutet darauf hin, dass …, soweit ich das beurteilen kann are adult hedges. irgendwie, sozusagen, und so weiter are stalling. Examiners hear the difference even when the grammar is clean.
A practical rewrite habit
Take one email you sent this month. Replace three filler phrases with specific verbs and one exact noun. Read it aloud. If it now sounds like a legal notice, put one ich back. C1 is control of the dial, not a single setting labelled 'formal'.
