Goethe B2: control, not a new tense list
What Goethe B2 actually tests: register, relative clauses, passive, and writing that stays inside the task — with a practice plan that is not A1 in a longer coat.

The jump from B1
B1 asks whether you can get through a day and an opinion. B2 asks whether you can keep control when the topic is unfamiliar: a workplace email, a short argument, a radio feature that does not slow down for you. New tenses are not the story. Plusquamperfekt appears; you will survive without living in it. What fails people is mixed word order, a passive they cannot produce, and Schreiben that wanders off the prompt.
If your B1 oral still needs three seconds to find weil, do not skip to C1 vocabulary lists. B2 examiners hear hesitation as much as they hear case errors.
The four papers, as they actually behave
Lesen is longer and denser. Headings and first sentences still save you. The trap is a paragraph that mentions the topic of the question but answers a different one.
Hören uses more overlap: two speakers, a number that is corrected, a nicht that arrives late. Note-taking is not optional. One column for facts, one for attitude (positiv / skeptisch / unklar).
Schreiben is a formal or semi-formal text plus a structured opinion. Count the required points on the task sheet and tick them before you write a flourish. Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren plus a clear Bezug nehmend auf … beats a warm paragraph that never states why you are writing.
Sprechen wants you to keep a turn: reason, example, concession. Einerseits … andererseits … is a skeleton, not a personality. Practise disagreeing without collapsing: Das sehe ich anders, weil …
Grammar that is worth a week each
Relative clauses: der, die, das as a binder, not a second article you guess. Passive for processes and rules. Konjunktiv II you already met for politeness — keep it for hypotheticals in Schreiben. Adjective endings only after the article is stable.
Do not start a 'B2 grammar book' from page one. Open the last mock you failed and list the three structures that actually broke. Those three are the syllabus.
What to practise here
Use intermediate mode until B1 connectors are boring. Then add the passive and relative-clause guides and keep answering in full sentences, not in isolated endings. A B2 mock on the weekend, a rest day, then the same mock's weak paper again — not a new mock every sitting.
